I may have to break down and see it. If you read the book, I'd love to know what you think.Carmela Martinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15543808551988338496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3934041490878801751.post-91833588423999111072014-07-16T06:28:28.597-05:002014-07-16T06:28:28.597-05:00Hi there Carmela. While I didn't read TFIOS, I watched the movie, and found myself enjoying it. I would most likely pick up the novel at one point. Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of it. :)GatheringBookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04477710897574769648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3934041490878801751.post-20612335384842032532014-07-15T14:11:17.048-05:002014-07-15T14:11:17.048-05:00Thanks for the recommendation, Rosi. But I think there's a difference between writing from inspiration vs trying to capture "what really happened." :-)
Carmela Martinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15543808551988338496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3934041490878801751.post-58655094950383654682014-07-14T11:19:45.349-05:002014-07-14T11:19:45.349-05:00Oh--and I loved FAULT!Oh--and I loved FAULT!laurasalashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13807781795919555208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3934041490878801751.post-34046650344773881262014-07-14T11:19:25.346-05:002014-07-14T11:19:25.346-05:00I'm always surprised when adults think all my ...I'm always surprised when adults think all my poems are autobiographical. Making stuff up is a tricky business, especially when there's some portion of actual fact within a story or poem that is mostly made up. I'll admit I do love hearing authors talk and share that they based this character on their neighbor and this one on their 4th-grade teacher, etc. :>)laurasalashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13807781795919555208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3934041490878801751.post-76459679860912996832014-07-14T08:23:26.271-05:002014-07-14T08:23:26.271-05:00Hi Carmela, so happy to see your post & that y...Hi Carmela, so happy to see your post & that you're all back! If you wish, you should add your link to the Teach Mentor Texts site so others will see it. Thanks for the mention.
Yes, I've read The Fault In Our Stars, was touched by the story, and although full of poignant moments of being ill, these teens were just like the teens I love, exuberant, jumping into life with such energy. John Green shows a story worth telling, that cancer is not everything about one's life! I'm happy you enjoyed it.Linda Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14983144542632353870noreply@blogger.com
