My favorites were Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Hansel and Gretel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, and The Gingerbread Man. Grandma told me these stories so often that she could recite them to me by heart. I ...What a wonderful way of spreading reading love. I always ask my college students to write about an early book, and there are few sweeter papers to read. Some go on and on about the wonders of parents reading to them. Some wish their parents had, and revel in being able to read books they missed when young now that they're in college. Clearly, it makes a difference in lives.
